So sorry to hear the outcome that must be so heartbreaking..
Agree with Splashy that even if you managed to find an exotics vet instead - that there were so many things going on with your little guy that the result would have likely been the same... It's terrible of that pet shop to be so irresponsible - I can only hope that the vet report will put them into better action.
My biggest sympathies - you did all that was possible (definitely don't beat yourself up), fully agree the pet shop is to blame.

delayed update/vets write up:
Examination:
Oral exam nad
Right side maxilla just rostral to aural opening soft tissue swelling (this progressed to bilateral red swellings over 48hours)
Soft tissue swelling right side spine mid dorsal body wall
Tail open wound - was previously a swelling/mass that appears to have ruptured – previously had similar appearence to head swelling. Tail lesiona is haemorrhagic with right sided kink to the tail
Right pelvic limb swelling from stifle distally - reduced extension stifle and reduce ROM foot.
Radiographs were performed:
Generally reduced bone opacity
Bony reaction tarsal joint right pelvic limb – possible osteomyelitis but resolution limited in small lizard
Tail lesion progressed over 48hours – distal tail necrosis due to inhibited blood supply
Facial swellings progressed despite antibiotic therapy.
Poor prognosis and no response to therapy so euthanasia was elected.
A bacterial septicaemia and abscessation was suspected – however culture results were not conclusive as to an underlying organism.
