Hi, I'm ReptiFiles and excited to be here!

Postby ReptiFiles » Sat Nov 11, 2017 5:20 pm

Hi there! Just signed up with the BlueTongueSkinks.net community so I figure I'd better introduce myself. :D

My name is Mariah. I'm new to the forum but not so much to blueys — I've kept them for about 2 years. I have a very handsome ~4 year old male Merauke named Hermes and a ~3 year old male Northern named Kairos who I received as a rescue after he was abandoned at my friend's office. Both have such distinct personalities and they're just such funny creatures — the temptation to buy every skink I see and become a crazy skink lady" is real!

I run ReptiFiles.com as a reptile educator and specialist in the science of captive reptile husbandry. My goal for ReptiFiles is to provide an easy-to-find resource for new and existing reptile owners to find the accurate, thorough information that they need to take care of their animals. So far I have developed 10 care guides and 61 articles, collaborating with experts and constantly reading to make sure the information I'm providing is up-to-date. I'm also a regular contributor to BeardedDragon.org, GeckosUnlimited, and the reptile section of Yahoo Answers. The dream is to eventually be able to offer services as a professional reptile husbandry consultant to zoos and such. :D

My blue tongue skink care guide is an Internet-friendly version of a 30-page research paper on captive husbandry for blue tongue skinks that I wrote as a final project for one of my classes at university: https://www.reptifiles.com/blue-tongue- ... are-sheet/. (BlueTongueSkinks.net was actually one of the resources I used in its development.) If anyone here wants to look it over and provide pointers on how it can be better, that would be awesome. One of my deeply-held personal beliefs is to never stop learning, so I'm always open to feedback!

Meet the skinks:

I look forward to learning from all of you!
