Hey guys I had my skink for about 2 weeks now and I just started noticing something that freaks me out. He's heavy breathing, there is no discharge mucus or nothing, he's very very alert, fast, eats and poops and is always up or hiding. But i noticed he is breathing heavy. Everyone says it's normal its from a big meal or he's huffing. But even this morning after skipping a meal yesterday and me not being by his tank he was basking but breathing heavy and his head kind of moving along with the heavy breathing. I spray her tank 2-3 times a day to achieve 80+ humidity but i only spray the moss. Is this normal guys? What is abnormal breathing behaviors? is a heavy breathing skink normal? is it a certain behavior because a lot of people are telling me it's nothing to worry about. What a big red flags i should be looking for? It's a heavy breathing with subtle head movements. She still hates interaction with me too. Darts away even if i get close to the tank.

It does seem pretty normal through the way you describe it mine did the same thing for a few weeks I actually let the lil dude bite me and after that we became best friends. I'd give it a week or so I bet she will eventually settle down

I don't own a bts yet but I've read that if it's a female heavy breathing might mean it is pregnant? Is it wild caught?

They do that when they are nervous also. You said he is alarmed by your presence, he will need some more time to settle in. Offer him some treats to get used to you, try and avoid reaching into his tank and disturbing him. Food always wins. He has to earn your trust, and I have found that tasty treats always win.
