QUESTIONS ABOUT WOOD

Postby Bluetongueskinkguy » Sun Aug 06, 2017 3:35 pm

Hi, I bought a living world natural wood log bendable hide thing and I was wondering if the wood is safe for reptiles? The person at the pet store said they used them for Chinese water dragons and corn snakes (this pet store knows what they are talking about as they all own reptiles) but I just wanted to confirm. Thanks

I’ve done a bit of looking into how to safely disinfect porus enclosure decor, if it’s small enough to fit in the oven, bake it at 350 for like 15-20 minutes in a disposable foil tray, that should be enough to cook off any bacteria or bugs or anything.. orrrr freeze it for a couple days, that will also kill everything.

Bendables usually contain plastics.. I wouldn't suggest baking it.

Either freeze it or boil it. I'd freeze it for a lot longer than 3 days though.
