Also orchid bark can be easy to find in bulk in the uk (not sure about America) which is cheaper. It does need to be out for a while to dry out so it doesn’t raise humidity but my northern seems to like it and has been burrowing into it without any problems and the pieces are too big for him to even be interested in trying to eat it at the moment. I’ve read a lot about kritters krumble on here but not found it easily here in the uk.

took under a minute to find this https://www.petplanet.co.uk/product.asp ... ept_id=445 uk supplier of Kritters Crumble course grade.

It says it’s been discontinued when I click on it and can’t add to basket. It seemed like it’s either out of stock or discontinued when I’ve searched. I’ll have another look when I need more substrate but I could only find it in places where you get it imported and postage is more than the product itself.

Editing because apparently this place has it in stock, they didn’t show up in my search last time and they have a blog post saying it’s back in stock recently https://www.thetortoiseshop.com/tortoise-bedding will be checking it out when I need more bedding as they seem to have quite a bit in stock.

My young skink seems to sneeze a bit when on Aspen bedding. I"m considering swapping it out for something like paper pellets and cypress mulch/Orchid bark. Would something like this be suitable :->
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00 ... 90IP&psc=1
or this
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Breeder-Celect ... per+pellet

Or would the skink attempt to eat it? I currently have Aspen, Beech chips, and Cypress Mulch. I'm using the first two is seperate compartments of the viv, but the mulch looks too small and pointed in places, so decided not to use it. Paper pellets might be a safe, hypoallergenic replacement. I could mix it with a bit of Coco Husk to get a mix in terms of humidity.
