I've been looking at all the pics of the recent beautiful halmaheras people have been posting and I got curious about my Duma. While he looks mostly merauke, I always thought his stripes were different. From his top half, he looks like regular merauke. But the bottom part of him looks a little halmahera to me, the stripes turn black and thicker closer to his stomach. Do meraukes get striping like this or could he possibly be a merauke x halmahera? Looking down on him from this direction, he looks merauke Tequilo's stripes stay the same size and coloring all the way down
Keep in mind Meraukes and Halmaheras are the same species, Tiliqua gigas; there is bound to be similarities. I would say yours is about as pure as they get. From what I've seen of suspected Halmahera x Merauke, they look mostly Halmahera with less black on tail, belly, arms, etc.

Like Dakota said, Meraukes are a subspecies of Indonesians, so there will be some similarities, but Duma is a very clean looking Merauke --looks like it could've been produced by me
Ahh ok! I have only seen one other merauke in person, it was at a pet shop and almost identical to Tequilo (but older/bigger at that time). So I guess I kind of thought Tequilo was more what the meraukes should look like. The more Duma grows, the more his thicker banding toward the bottom shows. I think it's quite striking and was curious about it. I got Duma from a show, from Underground.
