2014 Baby Meraukes

Postby Susann » Mon Apr 07, 2014 3:25 pm

Babies are 3 days old, and I finally have a minute to myself, so I stuck them all on the scale and shot new pictures. :)

Some of them are pretty colorful for babies! What colors are their parents?

Parents are JJ (male):

and Maddie (female):

Interesting fact is that Maddie did not shed for several weeks prior to giving birth. I was waiting for that next shed to start watching her closer; it never happened.

Thanks everybody! They are so cute and the sweetest little critters ever! I'm head over heels in love already.

I do have a waiting list for the babies with 6 people on it already, but if anyone thinks they might be interested, send me a PM. I don't require any money or any kind of commitment; when I know which ones I'm keeping I will send pictures of the available babies to the first person on the list. They will then have 24 hrs to get back to me if they are interested and which babies they want. I will then give them another 24 hrs to send me payment. If there are any babies left I will send pictures of them to the second person on the list. They will have 24 hrs ...and so forth down the list until I'm out of babies.
In the past only about 1 out of 3 people on my lists have ended up buying, so don't feel like all is lost because 6 people are already on the list. And (since there are a few breeders on my list who may want more than one baby...) if I run out of babies before I get to you at the bottom of the list, I just saw Xyla doing the "move the babies into a more comfortable position" squirm... so there is hope I may have more, soon... And Xyla's litter was more colorful than Maddie's... I'm just sayin'!

Your babies are adorable. I never get tired of watching birthing videos. Its so interesting to see them come out so flat from top to bottom and then fill their lungs and get short and wide. How they get their afterbith down as a first meal is beyond me. Almost makes me choke to watch.

Just to show the change in color that can occur as they mature, I am going to post some pictures of my past babies from when they were newborn to just a few weeks old, and what they look like as they've aged.

I'll start with Maddie's babies from last year: (baby pictures are mine, older pictures belong to Ophidiophile --used with his permission)

Great pictures! I can't believe how much they change colour, I don't see any hint of red in young Rosy or Sam but look at them now.

Nice! Moriarty is giving birth today, looks like it's that time of year. How funny. If you want baby CB meraukes, looks like there's only one time of year to get em!

Thanks for sharing, are you able to sex your babies or did you find out genders on yours as they matured?

I haven't heard of any way to sex babies. I've sexed my juveniles/adults through either seeing hemipenes or if they mate I assume the one on the bottom is a female  unless/until I see evidence otherwise.

I know, y'all don't mind looking at baby pictures, but I'm a little worried I may be pushing the limit here.
It's just that I moved them into more permanent tubs, and put the tubs where they will be for the duration of their stay with me, and they are juuuuust soooo cuuuute! :cloud9:

I made the pictures smaller, so there's not as much to scroll through...
...and I forgot to take a picture of #1 while I was holding him :( like I did everyone else

Speaking for myself, you are FAR from pushing the limit. I hope you'll keep us updated with pics as they grow while they're still in your care. Cuties!
