RULES

Welcome!

General questions about how the forums work are answered here: faq.php

This site is a collection of forums that exist as a fun community aimed at sharing proper information on keeping and caring for blue tongue skinks.
We are a family-friendly place where people can ask questions and share tips, experiences, and photographs with fellow bluey enthusiasts.

In order to keep our site a safe and friendly place, we ask that you abide by the following rules:

• Prior to asking general questions, we would appreciate if you read through the Caresheet and our BTS care FAQ.

• When posting, please do so in the correct forum; read the rules for each forum before posting in it.

• No personal attacks; you may critique someone’s ideas and hypotheses but not the person posting them.

• No slander, flaming, or defaming; if you have a report to make on a negative interaction or business deal with someone, you must provide as much proof as possible and stick only to facts.

• No hateful, threatening, or racial comments or ethnic slurs.

• No harassment or threats of any kind.

• No swearing and no objectionable or inappropriate language.

• No pornographic, sexually offensive, sexually explicit, or suggestive comments or images. No links to sites with pornographic or otherwise inappropriate or objectionable content.

• Please keep in mind that children do browse these forums, and we are committed to maintaining a family-friendly environment.

• Do not publicly re-post private written conversations without permission.

• Do not post pictures that do not belong to you without giving photo-credit to whoever took/owns the picture(s).

• For safety and privacy reasons, do not post other people’s private information (including pictures of them) without their permission.

• Creating and/or posting under multiple accounts may result in immediate termination of all accounts.

• Don't make posts that are inflammatory just to annoy and incite argument (trolling).

• No advertising other sites or products. Please do not advertise blue tongue skinks on behalf of pet stores.

• Do not comment on threads that have been inactive for 3 months or more. If you have a question that is not answered through a search of old posts, please start a new thread rather than revive a past one. The exceptions to this rule are: all threads in the Advanced Discussion Forum, or, if you are the original poster of the thread and wish to do an update.

• No posting with the specific intent of raising your post count. If we see a bunch of “empty” posts, we will start deleting them. Also, think before you post to make sure you are not just repeating what has already been said by someone else. Make sure you are adding something of substance to the discussion.
Before you press the “Post” button on a new post, make sure you have said everything you mean to say. If you forget to add something, or wish to make minor corrections, you must use the “Edit” button to edit the original post and not create a new post.

• Do not use texting abbreviations. We have non-English-speaking members from all over the world that cannot possibly be expected to know what abbreviations like IMO or ISO (etc.) mean.

• Show respect to moderators at all times. Not only do they sacrifice their time as volunteers --without compensation-- to do this job, but they are often in positions where judgment calls and difficult decisions need to be made. If you have objections against an action or decision by a moderator, please bring this up in private through messaging, either to the moderator in question or to one of the others.

• Please do not 'back-seat moderate'. If you are not a moderator, please draw attention to any infractions by contacting a moderator or using the 'report' feature on the top right of each post.

If you do not like these rules, please do not post. If you break these rules, we reserve the right to revoke your posting privileges and/or terminate your account without notice. We also reserve the right to terminate/ban any user, temporarily or permanently, without reason.

We reserve the right to change or modify these rules at any time.

Bluetongueskinks.org (or the people who run it) cannot be held responsible for any incorrect, false, or offensive information or material posted by individual members of the forums.
