Tiny white bugs

Postby EmeraldLDR » Mon Apr 15, 2024 2:57 pm

Hi I've had my blue tongue big smoke for about 3 months now and I've started to notice tiny white bugs in his vivarium, they are extremely small and oval shaped and I've also noticed alot swimming around his water bowl. I have no idea what these insects are and I'm worried incase it effects his health or would effect the quality of his drinking water. Would anyone be able to advise me on what's going on and are these insects harmful?

If they are white they're harmless and actually beneficial as they clean up cage debris. Parasitic reptile mites are black and you'll notice around sensitive areas such as eyes, ears and underarms (I did not know what else to call the area where the legs attach to the body). White mites/springtails are not detrimental to your environment.
