Bess beetles. Cute. Easy to keep. Can be bred if cared for. Has anyone ever fed their lizard the grub of theirs? I can’t find anything saying they’re poisonous and it says birds and mammals etc eat them so I would assume lizards can too but would like to hear if anyone has done it before?
Thanks in advance.
Can they eat passalidea larvae?

Re: Can they eat passalidea larvae?
I looked myself and cannot find anything regarding any toxicity of any kind. My only concern would be their strong jaws, could give them a nasty bite on the tongue (ouch!). When I feed mine superworms (zophobas) I crush their heads for this reason. I breed them myself, and those bess beetles look fun and interesting to breed too. I might just try it when I have a bit more time!

Yeah I wouldn’t want to feed the adults to them but possibly the larvae. Someone said they used to be considered a food source for people so I might give it a shot

Let me know how you do, I'm just as interested in insects as I am in reptiles, and would love to try breeding something new! My problem is I usually end up liking the insects and not wanting them to be food!!

Haha yeah I’m gonna have to push myself to feed them to the lizards. I’m too emotionally attached to everything ever
First I’ve got to convince my boyfriend that breeding bugs isn’t disgusting and that if I breed them they’re not gonna overtake the house and that there’s anough space for me to do it. he’s a *darn pansy. I’ll let you know how I go with them they seem like cute bugs and even if I can’t get them to breed easy they’ll still be fun to have haha

I think he hears “breeding bugs” and just sees a horror movie moment where they over run the house or something. He doesn’t even like the snake I’ve got and she’s a giant pansy haha
