I should have learned by now that "just having a look" in PetSmart is never a good idea...
Anyway, this little guy had been sitting there for about 6 months and just after Christmas he was half price; for $25 I couldn't say no. I asked to hold him and he definitely has the typical Fire Skink flightiness when you pick him up, but as soon as you have him in your hand he is completely calm. I have always loved these guys and it is such a treat seeing him out on those rare moments when he isn't hiding.
Without further ado, here he is.

Thanks! It was very fun to design and I am pleased with how it came out. I wanted to try a natural setup, but I think these ferns look pretty convincing.

Very nice colors on that fire skink! He will contrast beautifully with all the greenery.

He's a beauty. I'm really liking fire skinks. Not that my bluey isn't awesome...but those little guys are cool in their own way.

Thanks!
I definitely have to agree. In my humble personal opinion I think fire skinks are the most stunning and flashy skink out there. I also love their quirky personalities. Smaug finally walked into my hand out of his own free will! Granted it was to get a worm, but progress is progress.

I saw Giger today for a split second. Came out of the bathroom, and he bolted from his water dish. I got some small roaches for him today. They escape his low flat dish, so I put them in a small deep tupperware. He is showing interest, but not fully coming out. I hope he can get to the food.
