varieties of cunningham skinks

thats a good question ray,they look close to what vic ones are but yours hold alot more lightness and speckles,ill try and find a pic or 2 of my adult vic ones to show what i mean,they look similar but also not similar one of them has a very light colored body but even your darker ones have alot of lightness through them

i dont feel confident saying where they would be from but they do look more like a southern variety,maybe inland to but thats just a guess

They look like south coast NSW form ( south of the Sydney basin) .The Australian Reptile Park has an outdoor enclosure full of that exact colour form too.

1st and 3rd pic are Sydney sandstone form

2nd pic is an unrelated new England form to diversify his bloodline of current new England forms

Those in the second picture Richard are unique, I can't even guess what locale they are.

I need to pull my finger out and take some pics of my mob. I just sold last seasons litter of Sydney sandstones to Pike. The red on them was awesome too.

heres another vic cunningham,my escape artist whom i recaptured nearly 2years after escaping the last time,living with stumpies indoors till i make a more cuningham proof enclosure,its to big to risk with my small ones,theres also a near on 2 foot long northern in with them,oddly the cunningham spends alot of time up on the hollow log with him and following him about

yep,seems to consider them moving rocks,theres also a just shy of 2 foot long male northern in there and the little cunningham uses him to bask on to,lol,the bigger stumpies in that pic are 35 cm long,so not an overly large cunningham,2nd smallest of outdoor group

they arent shy of larger species

the northern use to always escape his cage and drop into stumpies cage,though once dropped into an adult sand monitor enclosure,so in the end just left him with stumpies

these guys all get along quite well,but they are all individuals ,if i saw any issues i would need to rearrange things

How do they keep from breeding together?

takes more than just being together for them to interbreed,northerns are winter breeders(dryseason breeders) the other two are spring breeders,temperate forms,so hard for them to inter breed when breeding windows are so far apart

Very nice rory,they look a little similar to my new englands,but mine i dont think will have that head color,not as stand outish anyways,i love the variety in these guys,even just from new england region,there used to be alot of black and silver banded ones at petshops here,called new englands as well,havnt seen anything like them since,still slap myself for not getting a couple

Went down to check on and feed lizards still at folks place today,ans spotted another cunningham had gotten out,was in same pile of roxks down backyard,so set my trao re how i caught last one,thankfully it worked with in 15 mins,last bugger was loose for near on 2 years,so bought this one home with me to and placed in with other escspee,the northern got bitey at new one so hes in another cage now

So time to pull finger out and knock up some more cunningham enclosing enclosures
Rory,with your gravid one abive,do u see laboured breathing,i noticed one of my still retained ones showing signs of it today,looking quite solid to,will have to bring other 4 adults up and set them up outdoors here before another finds away out,i think i fixed escape route,but i said that last couple of times to

I haven't noticed but they do hog the basking light if kept indoors.
