My Thayers King Snake

Postby JoshChimera » Fri Jul 18, 2014 7:35 pm

This is my Leonis phase Thayers King Snake. She was born 6/2011 and bred by Robert Bichler. I chose her out of all the King Snakes the breeder had because she was the most beautiful with her cream color and her cream coloration between her ornange pattern. Her name is Aphrodite (the Godess of Love, from Greek mythology). She has put on mass and length since I bought her last fall. The breeder told me she ignores frozen thawed mice, but she is a great eater when it comes to live prey. She did not even show any interest last time I gave her a frozen thawed mouse.

She's gorgeous! Kingsnakes come in so many awesome color forms, this has to be one of my new favorites!

Thayeri's are a species I've been planning to get into. Such neat snakes. Yours is very pretty.

Thanks Fatal. She is very easy going, she only rattles her tail when I disturb her.

I don't know how to breed reptiles properly, besides what I read about cooling them and letting them go off feed. I would have to meet someone with a male kingsnake. The breeder I bought her from could breed her come to think about it! Thanks, cool you have a nice girl too!

Yea I have a friend that breeds Thayeri kings, Mountain kings, Cal kings, ect. He kinda got my interest in colubrids and now I'm up to 5 in my reptile collection. For awhile though my main interest were in boas and pythons.

That is pretty good amount of snakes. Nice! I saw a whole lot of kings at my breeder's place too. From Gray banded kings to Mountain kings.

I went to his facility looking for a baby grey band and that's where he told me babies are very hard too take care of because it takes some effort to get them to eat rodents. So he showed me a female thayeri and I just had to have her.
