Hermann's Tortoise

Postby Kurt » Wed Jun 25, 2014 8:17 pm

I bought my gf her first reptile for her birthday. She picked out a baby Hermann's tortoise. I bought him from Ben Seigel Reptiles and he arrived today.

He lives in a vision v211 tank (24x22x14). He's on a bark substrate with half log hide and slate basking area. I'm using a zoo med naturalistic terrarium hood for his UVB and heat. Ambient temps at 80 and basking at 95.

Nope, I have a Russian. :) I wanted to adopt instead of buy, and was looking for either a Russian, Greek, or Hermann's. Someone local contacted me about rehoming their Russian so he joined my little zoo a few months back. He was probably originally wild caught but has been in captivity for some time and is a real character! If I had decided to buy a baby, I probably would have chosen a Hermann's; I just love them! Plus, there are some really fantastic Hermann's breeders in the US with beautiful stock.
